Maddalena is a designer who works with all kinds of materials. Born and bred in Milano, she returned to her home city 8 years ago, after a long period of study abroad.

In addition to selling the products she designs, she teaches at NABA, the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milano.

She works in her studio in Maciachini, where she also receives her clients. She often goes to nearby Isola for her Saturday morning routine, doing breakfast and shopping at the neighborhood’s street market.

The restaurant not to be missed

Maddalena for dinner recommends Faro (Via Livigno 6a), a restaurant run by two friendly and very cute young women. The key words there are kindness, abundance, hospitality.

Faro offers good cuisine with a unique formula: many small dishes that are there to be shared. For example, you can assemble your dinner out many appetizers and antipastos. The brunch, on Sundays, is also very good. The style is international but with local products.

Cinema, outdoors

Where Cinema Armenia once stood, Milano’s first movie production site in the early 1900s, Nuovo Armenia has now risen (Via Livigno 9). It's an open-air cinema and a cultural circle, offering séances for adults, but a night reserved for children movies. The selection of films is curated.

There is also a place where you can eat with themed dinners and have a drink in a convivial space near a green area, the Nicolò Savarino Park, which comes alive in the spring and summer months (M3 Dergano).

Shopping for bread and fresh groceries

Maddalena purchases her bread from Tondo, an artisanal bakery in Via Cola Montano 12. On Saturdays, Maddalena buys organic groceries from Il Verziere Bio (Via de Castillia 26), a street market in Isola with stalls of local agricultural producers.

A good breakfast

For breakfast, check out Lile in Cucina (Piazzale Maciachini 18, M3 Maciachini), a super welcoming place that has great interiors. Its strong points: hyperbuttery brioches and jovial owners.

They are open Monday to Friday, only in the morning until lunch time, but it's well worth it!
