Following the success of 2023’s The City of Light, Euroluce returns with another unmissable experience. The Biennale calls for innovative creations that go beyond the functional aspect of lighting by transforming it into a vessel of beauty, comfort and emotional well-being, both inside and outside the home.
Here is what’s to expect from The Euroluce International Lighting Forum on April 10th and 11th: two days of roundtables, masterclasses and workshops in which 20 international speakers will experiment with an unprecedented collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to shed light on the main theme. The Forum will take place at the Arena, The Forest of Space created by the Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto.
The itinerary will commence with the site-specific La dolce attesa installation by none other than Paolo Sorrentino: an investigation into time that is fascinated by suspended space, where something is still yet to happen (April 8th-13th). The Oscar winner will also participate in Drafting Futures, Conversations about Next Perspectives which will be held in the Formafantasma Arena. Annalisa Rosso, curator and one of the hosts of the Salone, will take the lead: five days of talks with international thinkers and designers, such as Lesley Lokko and Valeria Segovia.
Another highlight of this edition is Villa Héritage, the visionary project by Pierre-Yves Rochon installed in pavilions 13-15: a multisensory experience that reinterprets the classical form and makes it timeless through the magic of design.
As a result of the collaboration between the Municipality of Milan | Dept of Culture and the furniture Salone, Robert Wilson will present his “total work”, Mother, at the Museo della Pietà Rondanini on April 6th: in his intense dialogue between lights, images and sacred music, the famous American artist pays homage to Michelangelo’s masterpiece by reinterpreting the power of the “unfinished” with a contemporary twist.
Wilson will also curate the official inaugural night at the Teatro alla Scala, with which the director has a long-standing partnership. In fact, the protagonists of The Night Before. Object Chair Opera will be the “objects” and “chairs”, selected from his previous La Scala installations, which will be accompanied by the most famous operatic repertoire performed by the La Scala orchestra.
From April 1st to 13th the Design Kiosk, an outpost of the Salone in the city, returns to Piazza della Scala: expect countless events and in-depth meetings surrounded by books and, naturally, design objects.
