This edition of Milan’s modern and contemporary art fair miart, held at Allianz MiCo from April 4th – 6th, 2025, opens up to the city. Entitled among friends, it pays homage to the artist Robert Rauschenberg on his centenary, and honours the founding principles of his work: openness to the world, interdisciplinarity, dialogue and collaboration.
The theme also celebrates partnerships and synergies fostered over the years between the trade fair and the participating galleries, and its consolidation as a point of reference on an international cultural trade fair platform.

179 galleries from 30 countries over 5 continents will participate in the art fair, and various industry awards will be allocated. The solid core of Italian entities makes up almost half of the exhibitors, and offer a unique view of contemporary art in Italy; this year’s edition will also be enhanced by iconic returning names and new-entry international galleries.

Collectors and art lovers alike will appreciate the extensive and vibrant event, which aims to discuss the connections, and the human, cultural and economic relationships, that are kindled and evolved within the art world.

The sections

miart 2025 divides the exhibition spaces into three sections (plus one).

Established: the main section which, in this edition, hosts many names confirmed from previous years, alongside several national and international new-entries.

Emergent welcomes twenty-five entities from all over the world, and is reserved for galleries that research young generations of rising artists.

Portal is the section comprising ten galleries and their monographic projects, which break the boundaries of time and space, to research and discover innovative artistic practices and new creative fields.

The thematic section Timescape also returns this year: a journey through time that brings to the attention of the public works created in distant eras from those at the fair. The galleries participating in this section will showcase micro-exhibitions dedicated to the mid-twentieth century, which seek to initiate a dialogue between the Great Masters of the past and contemporary works.

miart invades the city

To further strengthen the theme of friendship and cooperation, the art fair expands and spreads citywide with numerous cultural initiatives: museum exhibitions, new commissions and talks around the figure of Robert Rauschenberg.

The first of these projects already debuted in November and will continue for the duration of the art fair: talks among friends, a series of five meetings on the theme of collaboration has been coordinated with Fondazione Prada, Museo del Novecento, PAC – Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, Pirelli Hangar Bicocca and Triennale Milano.

March 15th marks the inauguration of John Giorno: a labour of LOVE, a project at Triennale Milano, the first exhibition in Italy dedicated to the American poet and performer’s archive, which aims to tangibly trace Giorno's friendships and collaborations with some significant figures of twentieth-century art, literature and music.

In the same period, Rauschenberg and the Twentieth Century also opens at the Museo del Novecento: an exhibition that creates a bridge between the artist’s works and some of the masterpieces in the museum's permanent collections. A dialogue between eight works by Rauschenberg and the principles of Arte Povera and Futurism, considered the most significant movements of the Italian twentieth century.

The collaboration with the Intesa Sanpaolo Group is also reconfirmed, contributing to the 2025 edition with a selection of Rauschenberg masterpieces from the Luigi and Peppino Agrati collection, conserved the Caveau of the Gallerie d'Italia in Piazza della Scala.

Milano Art Week

In the spirit of among friends, the bond between miart and the city continues with the edition of Milano Art Week: a week of guided tours, special openings and inaugurations of new exhibitions that transcend the distinction between the city’s public and private cultural institutions.

Many of the proposals created within the context of miart will also spill over into the following Milano Design Week, with thematic itineraries featured in the Milanese galleries.
