One year to the Olympics: the countdown begins with sport, fashion and the Chinese New Year

On February 6th, everyone needs to be ready at the starting blocks for the official countdown to the inauguration of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games, which will be held from February 6th to 22nd, 2026, followed by the Paralympic Games from March 6th to 15th. With all the sporting events (both winter and non) and the Chinese New Year, this is the perfect month to discover the city that’s always in the game.
In via Paolo Sarpi, the red and gold Chinese lanterns dangling decoratively between the buildings greet all passers-by. Milano's Chinatown is gearing up to celebrate New Year's Eve: January 29th marks the start of the Year of the Wooden Snake and the entire city is ready to join the party.
In anticipation of the February 2nd parade at the Arco della Pace, and to continue celebrating in the new lunar year, check out the special menus on offer from the restaurants in this bustling neighbourhood which will be serving up a delicious mix of styles and cultures. Ravioli, bao buns and take-away kebabs are a must, but the Asian street food and Chinese restaurants also sit comfortably side-by-side with pizzerias, pastry shops, wine bars and karaoke venues where you can party till late.
If the month of sports opens on February 2nd, with the Milan – Inter derby at San Siro, and concludes with the Euroleague Basketball challenge Olimpia Milano vs As Monaco on February 27th, the event that will really get us cheering, as a warm-up to the Olympics, is the ISU Short Track World Tour!
Thanks to the Winter Olympics, we’re all now familiar with short track, a type of speed skating on ice on a short oval track. The ISU Short Track World Tour brings together the best skaters from around the globe for a line-up of races that promises to be both exciting and unpredictable, where every decision can make the difference between victory and defeat.

Milano Fashion Week Women’s returns to dictate trends and styles for the next Autumn/Winter 2025/2026 season. From February 25th to March 3rd, the presentation of the new Women’s Fashion collections, with the runway shows also projected on mega screens in the city.
Once again, the Camera della Moda will open its Fashion Hub at Palazzo Giureconsulti to the public while, at the Museo della Permanente, K-Way presents the In Y/Our Life exhibition which tells the story of its iconic windbreaker jacket alongside that of other legendary brands whose names have become synonymous with the objects they represent.
A select group of artists will reinterpret each brand that is part of our collective culture such as Bic, Pongo, Rollerblade, Scotch, Chupa Chups and Polaroid, a cultural analysis that makes its debut in Milano and will then continue to Paris, Seoul and London.
The exhibition is open to the public with workshops, performances and guided tours, from February 26th to March 2nd. Free entry upon registration.
February takes its place on the podium as one of the months in which the greatest number of exhibitions open in the city.
Pirelli HangarBicocca is first at the starting line, from February 6th, with Tarek Atoui. Improvisation in 10 days, an exhibition dedicated to the sound rooms created by the Lebanese artist: through his installations he reflects on today's social and political issues, revealing how music and new technologies constitute important aspects of expression and identity. Free entry.
Palazzo Reale is undoubtedly the ‘champion’ of all venues, with the opening from February 15th of the Casorati exhibition that features one of the most influential and recognized artists of 20th-century Italian art, from February 26th Leonor Fini, an Italian artist linked to Surrealism, and Art Déco. Il trionfo della modernità from February 27th.
Fondazione Prada inaugurates A Kind of Language: Storyboards and Other Renderings for Cinema on January 30th at the Osservatorio in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II: an early start for the exhibition that will taking place throughout February. Over a thousand elements created between 1930 and 2024 by over 50 authors comprising producers, photography directors, artists, graphic designers, animators and choreographers invite visitors to discover how the storyboard is the beginning and a fundamental part of the creative process in a film.
