Here you find the 10 best things to do in Milano for Christmas.
The Olympics in Milano and Cortina are fast approaching and, this year, just like in 2023, the Christmas spirit and the Olympic and Paralympic inspiring values will illuminate Piazza del Duomo with the Milano Cortina 2026 Games Tree.
The magnificent 27.5-metre-tall fir tree from Ponte di Legno, Val Camonica, is elegantly adorned with Olympic and Paralympic decorations. Alongside hundreds of traditional Christmas baubles, and thousands of twinkling white lights, the tree also features Tina and Milo, the beloved mascots of Milano Cortina 2026, to add a playful charm.
At the base of the tree, a vibrant Christmas village invites visitors to explore activities hosted by Coca-Cola and Samsung.
The lighting ceremony of the Milano Cortina Games 2026 Tree will take place on Friday, December 6th, starting at 17:00 in Piazza del Duomo.
Channelling the opulence of the iconic Palace of Versailles, the Dior Parfums Christmas Tree in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a vision of golden splendour. Towering over 14 metres high, this stunning centrepiece dazzles and embodies the essence of luxury with over 1,900 intricate decorations, golden flowers and Dior’s iconic star motif.
Looking upwards, visitors can marvel at the shimmering chains of lights illuminating the Octagon's dome.
The tree switching-on ceremony will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, at 18:30.
Additionally, Dior Parfums extends its festive magic to eight other city locations with enchanting trees placed across the city in Piazza Costantino, Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, piazza Insubria, piazza Remo Cantoni, piazza Enrico Berlinguer, piazza Anita Garibaldi, ‘Piazza Aperta’ Via A. Graf and piazza Belloveso.
From December 6th onwards, Piazza della Scala will glow with a touch of starry-eyed magic: a delicate, luminous snow globe will host the elegant Motta Christmas Tree. Entitled Taste Meets Milano and the Stars, it will be decorated entirely in shades of blue and gold, illuminated by a spectacular light display.
The switching-on ceremony, held on the evening of December 6th, promises Milanese residents an unforgettable performance. The ethereal notes of a piano sky concert will resonate across the city’s most ‘musical’ piazza, evoking pure Christmas enchantment.
From December 8th to January 6th, passersby can indulge in delectable samples of the latest Motta products created by Michelin-starred Chef Bruno Barbieri, and join quizzes to win exclusive Motta prizes.
Motta will also ‘sweeten up’ Viale Affori with radiant festive lights.
Sephora blushes Milano with the magic of Christmas, starting from Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the iconic shopping street home to its flagship store, illuminating the sky with 400 metres of festive lights and baubles which also continue into Via Santa Rita da Cascia.
In Piazza San Babila, the We Belong To Something Beautiful Tree, 13 metres tall and adorned with 68 sparkling baubles and 33 gift boxes, offers visitors the chance to win a Sephora ornament or participate in a gift box draw until December 24th.
To create unique memories, Sephora offers a pop-up space for personalising gifts and capturing special Christmas photo keepsakes, until December 26th.
Two more Sephora trees will light up Piazza Tina Modotti and ‘Piazza Aperta’ Giacosa/Rovereto.
One of the world's most famous toy brands arrives in Piazza Cordusio: Percassi and LEGO Italy present the Brick Tree, standing 11 meters tall and decorated with over 1,000 LEGO ornaments crafted by Riccardo Zangelmi, a LEGO® Certified Professional.
The fun extends to nearby Via Dante, with personalized ‘Season’s Greetings from LEGO’ lights and themed trams spreading festive joy.
The tree switching-on ceremony, accompanied by a gospel choir performance, will take place on December 6th at 17:45.
For even more LEGO magic, an 8-metre-tall tree decorated in iconic LEGO colours will welcome visitors in Viale dell’Innovazione/Arcimboldi.
The Unwrap The Magic Christmas Tree by Victoria’s Secret adds a touch of festive glamour to Galleria del Corso, bringing holiday enchantment and sparkle to Milano from December 4th to January 6th.
The tree’s official switching-on ceremony will be held on December 6th at 18:45.
Another elegant tree, featuring the same enchanting theme, will be installed in Piazzale Archinto, visible from December 4th to January 7th with the switching-on ceremony held on December 6th.
It’s the thought that counts is the poignant message of the AIRC Christmas Tree, a heartfelt tribute and an invitation to support patients of paediatric cancer and their families.
Located in Piazza San Carlo, this innovative tree ‘undresses’ instead of being adorned. Visitors can take a bauble from the tree - complete with a note of gratitude for the researchers - for a minimum donation of €5. Each act of giving transforms the tree into a beacon of hope, representing the unwavering commitment to finding better treatments for young patients.
A second tree will be installed in Piazza Adriano Olivetti. This initiative is sponsored by Banco BPM, which has been supporting AIRC Foundation events all over Italy for six years.
The A2A Group joins The Christmas of Trees initiative with its own installation The Tree of Promises in Largo La Foppa.
This unique display features a real tree rooted in a transparent case that symbolizes protection and renewal. Visitors are invited to pen their promises for a more sustainable future and insert them into the display. Each note triggers a luminous effect, representing the tree being ‘nurtured’ with fresh energy and hope - a glowing reminder of our shared responsibility to the planet.
After the Christmas holidays, the tree will be relocated to a A2A site or another suitable location in line with the company’s commitment to the circular economy.
A2A Life Company also lights up Via Meda.
After having sponsored the tree in Piazza Duomo in 2022, Veralab returns with We wish you to be yourself, an installation in Piazza Sempione that emphasizes the importance of being true to oneself. It consists of an interactive tree placed on a striking structure shaped like a giant gift box. Inside, visitors can enjoy a selfie station to capture unforgettable photos against a magical backdrop.
The tree is flanked by a lively Christmas Village, open daily from 10:00 to 19:00 featuring an ice-skating rink crafted with eco-friendly materials. Covering a surface of 364 sq. mts. the rink offers 30-minute sessions, giving everyone the chance to experience the joyful thrill of skating.
At the heart of the village, a charming Veralab hut invites visitors to explore and purchase exclusive products and lovingly-curated Christmas kits.
However, the Christmas Village isn’t just about fun and shopping. Veralab, consistently committed to protecting women's health through awareness-raising activities and prevention, collaborates with an association to provide free on-site mammogram screenings during the festive season. This important gesture actively raises awareness of cancer prevention. Access to the screening station is free, but booking is required.
The inauguration event will take place on Monday December 9th.
The festive lights will also illuminate Via Guido d’Arezzo and Via Saverio Griffini.
Emporio Armani’s I Dreamed of a Star initiative celebrates the holiday season with a show-stopping Christmas tree embodying dreams and aspirations in Milano’s chic fashion district. A beautiful message of wonder, for the city dear to the brand’s design identity.
This striking, 5-metre-tall installation will stand in Via Croce Rossa from December 6th, 2024, to January 6th, 2025. The tree’s octagonal base supports a multifaceted, polygonal structure adorned with transparent and mirrored surfaces that shimmer under LED lighting to create a celestial effect.
Emporio Armani’s signature-style elegance will also illuminate Via Carlo Imbonati.
The piazza in front of Stazione Centrale will host The Tree of Light by Senstation Winter, a seasonal initiative by Grandi Stazioni Retail.
From December 7th to January 6th, Senstation Winter welcomes Milanese residents and the countless tourists flocking to the city for the holidays. The majestic 18-metre-tall Christmas tree, adorned with 15,000 sparkling LED lights, will be switched on during a festive ceremony on December 7th at 17:00.
The stunning tree is accompanied by an ice-skating rink, captivating scenic displays, cutting-edge installations with LED walls and breathtaking lightshow projections on the Stazione Centrale historic façades.
Free entry to this event, with the exception of the skate rentals, if needed.
Themed festive illuminations will also decorate the picturesque Via Gluck.
SmartCityLife and CityLife Shopping District present The Christmas Adventure in collaboration with LEGO Italy, a celebration of festive fun and creativity from December 7th to January 6th.
At the heart of Piazza Tre Torri stands a majestic 12-metre traditional Christmas tree, flanked by a charming Christmas house with two LEGO-themed escape rooms.
Visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in puzzles and games, discovering the joy of LEGO and the holiday spirit with Santa Claus or the Gingerbread Man. Free entry.
Inside the mall, interactive LEGO installations continue the adventure, contributing to the heartwarming Build to Give initiative. Here, children can construct colourful LEGO hearts, spreading joy by donating toys to those less fortunate.
Christmas lights will also decorate Via Michelino da Besozzo, Piazza Prealpi and Via Monte Generoso.
This Christmas, Prysmian lights up Milano with a spectacular double installation that symbolically connects the bustling city centre to its historic Bicocca headquarters.
The Electrifying Milano Tree in Piazza San Fedele and the mesmerizing Lighting the Road to Bicocca, a 4-kilometre stretch of lights along Viale Fulvio Testi to the Prysmian Tower, highlight Milano’s innovation and inclusivity.
This luminous tribute celebrates Prysmian's deep-rooted ties to Milano, a city that thrives on creativity, hospitality and progress.
From November 30th to January 6th, Portanuova hosts the second edition of PoP XMAS where tradition meets modern flair in an immersive holiday experience.
