Events not to be missed in November 2024

In November, Milano looks through the lens and reveals its passions: the love for reading, for the taste of discovery, for music. As a designated UNESCO Creative City for literature, and also the Italian capital of publishing, Milano is the place where writers, musicians, publishers and readers have all written their stories. This month, thanks to the popular BookCity event, the pages of a book are both the inspiration and an invitation to explore the city. Music will do the rest.
Discover the events not to be missed this autumn.
As per tradition in November, Milan hosts the BookCity event dedicated to book lovers and fans of the written word that will enliven various city locations. A series of talks, readings and presentations of the latest editions and graphic novels will animate the city, from Castello Sforzesco, to the theatres and museums.
There will be an ample choice of guided itineraries in English. On Saturday, November 16th at 11.00 you can explore the Navigli area to be enticed by the life and poetry of Alda Merini. On Sunday, November 17th, also at 11.00, visitors can delve into the Certosa district to discover the social geography and urban realism of the novelist Giovani Testori. Read their words that narrate stories of places in Milan during the postwar boom, and test your knowledge of city trivia with quizzes: from film locations to sporting events, TV series and traditional Milanese cuisine.
Participation is free. Please reserve your place by email: piedipagina@gmail.com
A book, a biography of a historical figure or the exploits of a literary hero can inspire the stages of a very personal itinerary in Milano. There will also be many incursions into the world of design, the realms of sporting champions and the lives of great women of Milano: such as esteemed names like Gae Aulenti and Miuccia Prada, but also imaginary figures like the legendary Valentina by Guido Crepax.
Some itineraries visit media and publishing venues, and many others follow in the footsteps of poets and musicians: maybe you’d like to trace the footsteps of Giuseppe Verdi around the city?
From opera to classical music, pop, rock, and rap, throughout history every musical genre has found Milan as the perfect place to present itself to the general public.
Milano Music Week will turn the spotlight on the music and discography scene of contemporary Milan. From November 18th to 24th, the calendar is packed with live concerts, DJ sets, interviews with artists and producers: the beating heart is the area around Parco Sempione, with the Castello Sforzesco, Dazi at the Arco della Pace and the Triennale Milano as venues for the main events. But there is still so much more to discover (and to listen to).
In November the city follows the thread of passions, and the weekend of the 22nd and 24th is no exception as it unites lovers of video games, comics, anime and pop culture at Fiera Milano Rho for the Milan Games Week & Cartoomics 2024. Gaming & motorsports come together at the two-wheeler exhibition EICMA (from November 7th to 10th) that, this year, celebrates its 110th anniversary with a record edition: ten packed pavilions, 770 exhibitors and over 2100 brands from 45 countries. Several legends of the motorsport universe will join the celebrations; there will be road tests, races and presentations of new models both inside and outside the trade fair premises.
And, like last year’s edition, an area dedicated to the world of motorsport video games returns.
